About the Artist

Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Katelyn Lester is an artist who uses photography to speak about the relationship between man and the land through the lens of the cowboy lifestyle. She uses her family's history of breaking horses and farming in south Texas along with her own experiences with western culture to showcase the beauty, hardships, and dedication within the western industry and as a way of life. She has spent the last few years working with the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo plus small-town rodeos in south Texas and North Carolina, capturing the culture in and around the rodeo. Katelyn is currently working and practicing toward her MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts at Duke University after having earned her BFA in Photography at Texas State University.
